Empty Bowls Event
The Empty Bowls Event, hosted by the West Chester Liberty Caring Community Collaborative (C3) in collaboration with local restaurants and businesses, is a soup lunch open to the public with proceeds directly benefiting Reach Out Lakota and the Faith Alliance’s summer feeding program. In its first year, the event raised more than $5,000. The community service opportunity doubles as a student art project. The idea is for each attendee to leave with a placemat, bag and ceramic bowl, each decorated by a Lakota student. The empty bowls serve as a symbolic reminder of the hunger in our community. The event will take place on November 12, 2016 at Liberty Center's Sabin Hall.
Ceramic Recess Workshop to benefit Empty Bowls
Students at Union were given the opportunity to donate talents for this amazing charity event. Fourth to Sixth grade students were given the opportunity to volunteer their time during recess to meet with Mrs. Ferguson and create a ceramic bowl on the potter's wheel. The bowls were decorated and glazed for the event. All bowls created are being donated to the event.
