5th grade Starry Night Project
5th grade has done an amazing job creating their own version of van Gogh's famous painting. We looked at artwork by Vincent van Gogh and discussed his tragic life. Students started their piece with blending analogous colors to make the hills. Then they used swirling lines to show the shine of the stars. Last they added star bursts within the swirls.
Students are still working on completing these awesome pieces! Come back for more soon!!
5th grade Birch Tree Paintings
5th grade made some amazingly realistic paintings of birch trees in the snow. Students masked off the paper for their trees with different tape widths to create a sense of changing scale and distance in the woods. They painted their sky colors, then removed the tape. They added cast shadows from the base of their trees on the snow. Last they added the black lines to show textural detail on the tree bark.
5th grade Leaf Prints
5th created these beautiful pieces of art while learning about texture and printing. First they used the texture of a leaf to print with white ink. Then they filled the negative space with sponge printing different colors.
